"Florida Treasure Coast Top Recruit Prospects"

Treasure Lake Conference
Rankings, Strength of Schedule

  1. Vero Beach, 15-1, District 6-6A
The most complete team on the Treasure Coast. Excellent balance of big men, guards, ball handlers, and defenders. Ryan Maultsby and Tommy Biggoms lead this potent team. It looks like they have clinched the conference already. Their 1st real challenge is Tuesday, Jan. 15, state ranked Palm Beach Lakes. The winner will have the lead in District 6-6A.
  2. Martin County, 10-5, District 6-6A
Martin County is underachieving at this point. An overtime loss in their own Christmas tournament to state ranked Tampa-Jefferson. Martin County led the entire game by 10. A 3 point loss to Vero Beach. Vero had 27 turnovers to Martin County's 10 and they could not capitalise. Hurley Dunbar may be one of the best players in the area, but he is not getting it done. Richard Cleare is averaging nearly a double-double a night and Korey Mitchell is the difference in the game. Martin County is too one dimensional down the stretch, Dunbar can't do it all.
  3. Lincoln Park Academy, 12-5, District 13-3A
There is always a surprise team of the season. Lincoln Park's 1st year coach Tony Seabury looks good do far. The team has far exceeded expectations. A two point overtime loss to Pahokee states their case. Lincoln Park's team is young, sophomores playing varsity and proving themselves.
  4. Pt. St. Lucie, 8-8, District 14-4A
Another underachieving team. Port St. Lucie has some of the best guards in the area. Darryl Taylor, Shane Reynolds, and Richard Damus. The post is occupied by Carl Damus, the switch is made (when necessary) and brother Richard joins him down there. However, Richard has the size and stroke for the next level. Injuries to most of their guards has left the Jaguars to lose several games they should have won easily.
  5. St. Lucie West Centennial, 9-7, District 14-4A
Tyrrell and Eddie are gone. Terrell and Charles are in. Terrell Slater is the best scoring point guard in the area. The senior guard can play. Charles Singletary can flat shoot the ball. The problem, as usual, is no defensive effort. However, Centennial continues to improve. The lack of a real post player makes them easy prey. However, they took care of Port St. Lucie.
  6. Sebastian River, 11-6, District 14-4A
Sebastian is also considered overachieving at this point. They proved themselves early in the season. However, when you let the worst team in the area beat you, you are definitely underachieving. Tristan Collins continues to put up good numbers for the team.
  7. Ft. Pierce Westwood, 5-9, District 13-3A
Coach Rick Tinsley always brings a good team to the court. Martavius Prince is coming up big for them right now.
  8. South Fork, 3-11, District 14-5A
These guys looked like they were going to go winless this season. A solid win against Atlantic and most of their home schedule left can only help them improve. Eric Dickinson is continuing to improve at the offensive end. the big turn around for this team is Ferrel Graham. He is not averaging 15 plus turnovers a game anymore. They have given some good teams tough competition.
  9. Community Christian, 10-7
One name, Tommy Shore. He is leading the area in scoring at 24.6 PPG. The team could have 5 more wins if Shore had some help. It is unfortunate that Community christian does not have any other good players. No frontcourt equals no rebounds. Too bad, Shore is a senior.
  10. Ft. Pierce Central, 4-11, District 14-5A
Darryl Taylor transferred to Port St. Lucie, a new head coach, and Central is off to another terrible season. Let's face it somebody has to be #10. Inconsistent play from will keep them from going anywhere.
  11. John Carroll, 4-14
First year woes for Coach Steve Ripley. The team is young and still trying to learn his system. They will have to wait for next year.
  12. Okeechobee, 2-16, District 14-4A
It is unfortunate to have a terrible team every year. However, they did manage to beat Sebastian River. They won't be winless this year.
