FEATS OF THE WEEK: An 81-67 loss to No. 5 Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei in the Nike Extravaganza at Long Beach, Calif., ended a five-week, 19,248-mile criss-cross of the United States for regionally ranked Miami, Christian. After leaving for Honolulu on Dec. 15 to participate in the Iolani Classic, the Victors played games in Hawaii, Delaware, California, Florida and then California again. During the stretch, the team competed against teams from nine different states and compiled a disappointing 7-5 record . . . Minnetonka, Minn., Hopkins, ranked No. 4 in the preseason, lost its third straight game to a ranked team and fell out of the Top 25. This time the Royals were victimized by Northeast No. 8 Jersey City, N.J., St. Anthony, 63-46, in a game played at famed Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke University . . . Jamaal Womack of Bronx, N.Y., Our Savior Lutheran lit up the scoreboard for 60 points to spark an 86-71 win over Astoria, St. Demetrios. The 5-foot-8 guard also dished out six assists and had five steals . . . Dion Harris of No. 23 Detroit, Redford had a career night with 39 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists in an 81-48 rout of Detroit, McKenzie.
