FEATS OF THE WEEK: UCLA's Pauley Pavilion played host to two of the nation's most talked-about players when No. 1 Akron, Ohio, St. Vincent-St. Mary took on No. 6 Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei and regionally ranked Brooklyn, N.Y., Lincoln met unranked Vallejo, Calif., in the Pangos Dream Classic. A sold-out crowd and national-television audience on ESPN2 watched as super senior LeBron James scored 21 points -- six under his average -- in leading the top-ranked Irish to a 64-58 win over Mater Dei. It was SV-SM's third win over a top-10 team since James' earlier ESPN2 appearance, a 65-45 win against No. 2 Oak Hill on Dec. 12. Also on hand for the Classic was highly touted junior point guard Sebastian Telfair, who already had 30 points when he exited Lincoln's 91-63 rout of Vallejo with 2 minutes left in the third quarter . . . Oak Hill took home the hardware from the holiday tourney with perhaps the best field this year in the Academy National Invitational in Houston. The Warriors defeated top-10 teams Seattle, Rainier Beach and Elizabeth, N.J., St. Patrick en route to the title.
