The man who most came or tuned in to see play, 6-7 senior G/F LeBron James, did not disappoint, pouring in 31 points to go with 13 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a blocked shot . . . Another strong field of nationally and regionally ranked teams comprised the KMOX Shootout at the Savvis Center in St. Louis. Highlighting the one-day action was No. 4 Seattle, Rainier Beach's 69-62 overtime victory over No. 8 Aurora, Ill., West. Southern Cal recruit Rodrick Stewart scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Vikings. No. 21 Springfield, Mo., Kickapoo also made a strong showing, easily defeating regionally ranked Portland, Ore., Jefferson, 77-61, behind 18 points from Missouri recruit Spencer Laurie . . . The Smith's Ragu Classic in Salt Lake City hosted a stellar field of five teams that are or have been regionally ranked this season. Bakersfield, Calif., Garces Memorial made the biggest impression. Led by 7-foot junior Robert Swift, the Rams picked up three victories and earned a spot in this week's West Coast Top 10. Other notable results included Midlands No. 6 South Jordan, Utah, Bingham downing then-regionally ranked Oakland, Calif., Technical, 66-61, and East Coast No. 8 Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha coming from behind to defeat then-regionally ranked Sandy, Utah, Alta, 46-44.
