National Prep Basketball Poll - Week 2

The National Prep Basketball Poll is compiled by national high school sports experts Jamie DeMoney and Jeremy Plowman and a panel of sportswriters. The preseason national Top 25 and regional Top 10's follow with last season's won-loss records.

The National Prep Poll has been compiled weekly since 1987 and are the only national high school rankings distributed on the Associated Press national wire service.

FEATS OF THE WEEK: One of the season's first major national events took place in Benton, Ky. The Marshall County Hoopfest hosted seven teams in the national or regional rankings. The action was highlighted by No. 2 Flossmoor, Ill., Homewood-Flossmoor's 68-67 defeat of defending Prep Poll champ Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill. The Vikings were led by Kansas recruit Julian Wright's 19 points and nine rebounds. In earlier action, Oak Hill defeated regionally ranked Jackson, Miss., Lanier, 94-80, in spite of a 46-point outing from Mississippi State recruit Monta Ellis . . . Jacksonville, Fla., Arlington Country Day entered the poll at No. 16 on the strength of its 64-56 win over No. 21 Poplar Bluff, Mo., at the Hoopfest. North Carolina-bound Tyler Hansbrough had 34 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort for the Mules . . . Defending 2A state champ and regionally ranked Braham positioned itself as the top team in Minnesota with its 72-63 win over then-regionally ranked Richfield. Highly touted 6-7 junior Isaiah Dahlman scored 27 to lead the Bombers.
