The National Prep Basketball Poll is compiled by national high school
sports experts Jamie DeMoney and Jeremy Plowman and a panel of sportswriters. The preseason national Top 25 and regional Top 10's follow with last season's won-loss records:
- Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill (11-0), headlines stellar field at this week's Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu
- Aurora, Ill., West (7-0), beat St. Louis power Chaminade in KMOX Shootout in St. Louis
- Mount Vernon, N.Y. (1-0), could meet No. 1 Oak Hill at Iolani Classic
- Los Angeles, Fairfax (4-0), defending champ at Iolani
- New York, Rice (2-0), opened season with rout of traditional power Amityville
- Los Angeles, Westchester (4-0), leads the field at this week's City of Palm Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
- Bronx, N.Y., St. Raymond (2-0), N.C. State star Julius Hodge played here

- Brooklyn, N.Y., Lincoln (2-0), clipped No. 22 Orlando Edgewater, 82-77, in ESPN2 game
- Cedar Hill, Texas (13-0), downed No. 25 Fort Worth Dunbar, 70-64
- Memphis, Tenn., White Station (7-0), defeated state-No. 2 Memphis, Raleigh-Egypt
- Maysville, Ky., Mason County (3-0), winning streak at 21 games
- Belleville, Ill., West (5-0), led by Purdue recruit G-F Xavier Price
- Indianapolis, Lawrence North (5-0), inside patrolled by 7-foot soph Greg Oden
- Detroit, Redford (2-0), won first two games by a combined 69 points

FEATS OF THE WEEK: A quartet of coaches across the nation reached milestone victories. Dick McConnell of Tucson, Sahuaro became the first Arizona coach to win 700 games with his team's 69-60 win over Flowing Wells; Charles Smith of regionally ranked Alexandria, La., Peabody earned victory No. 500 with a 53-46 win over Lake Charles, Marion Washington; Ronald Johnson of White Castle, La., notched win No. 500 in a 68-59 decision over Baton Rouge, McKinley; and Myrtle Beach, S.C., Socastee's Dan D'Antoni won his 500th with a 85-65 defeat of North Myrtle Beach . . . No. 17 Belleville, Ill., West earned its way into the Top 25 this week after upsetting then-No. 9 Jackson, Miss., Lanier, 54-44, at the Shop 'n Save/KMOX Shootout at the Savvis Center in St. Louis. Also at the Shootout, Illinois recruit Shaun Pruitt scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead No. 2 Aurora, Ill., West to a 56-49 win over St. Louis, Chaminade . . . No. 14 Cedar Hill, Texas, downed No. 25 Fort Worth, Texas, Dunbar, 70-64, in an early season instate matchup of nationally ranked teams. The loss ended a 48-game winning streak for Dunbar.
