FEATS OF THE WEEK: Orlando, Fla., Edgewater's stint atop the National Prep Poll Top 25 was short-lived to say the least.
The Eagles were upset by regionally ranked league rival Dr. Phillips, 80-68, in both team's season-opener. Edgewater, which was
playing without three players who are still with the school's football team in the state playoffs, was able to bounce back with
three wins to close out the week and is now ranked No. 11 . . . Four-time NPP champ Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill is back in the
No. 1 spot after sweeping the field at the Marshall County Hoopfest in Benton, Ky. The Warriors picked up wins over No. 9 Jackson,
Miss., Lanier, 80-75, and regionally ranked Lexington, Ky., Catholic, 77-59. Also at the Hoopfest, No. 12 Peoria, Ill., Central
downed No. 15 Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei, 70-62 . . . The longest losing streak in Iowa prep history (103 games) ended when Russell
defeated Cainsville, Mo., 46-39. However, the Trojans still have not beaten a team from the state of Iowa since the losing streak began
in 1997.
