"Florida Treasure Coast Top Recruit Prospects"

Martin County Hall of Fame Classic

Day Three

Game 9
Jupiter 72, Okeechobee 49

Top scorers: Alex Kaklamanos (JHS) 21 points, Jon Taylor (JHS) 18 points, Derrick Derita (OHS) 13 points

Game notes: Center Kyle Murphy's injury must have inspired Jupiter. Jupiter scored the first ten points of the game and never looked back.

Game 10
SLW Centennial 65, South Fork 64

Top scorers: Charles Singletary (SLWC) 27 points, Ferrel Graham (SFHS) 21, Eric Dickinson (SFHS) 16 points

Game notes: Finally, Charles Singletary wakes up. An excellent all-round game. He played defense, ripped the ball a few times, and really stroked from the outside with 7 3-pointers. Centennial was vulnerable without point guard Terrell Slater, but South Fork could not capitalize.

Game 11
Plantation 79, Miramar 50

Top scorers: Roderick Wilmont (MHS) 22 points, Lavell Payne (PHS) 18, Michael Reddick (PHS) 12

Game notes: Roderick Wilmont can't score enough for his team. Actually, the reason is that his team can't score. He is the center piece of a team that lost by two on Friday to a state ranked team. Along comes lil' ole Plantation and Miramar gets "whooped". Live and learn, you have to come prepared for every game!

Game 12
Tampa Jefferson 70, Martin County 63

Top scorers: Kevin Vinson (TJ) 33 points, Tarence Kinsey (TJ) 28, Hurley Dunbar (MCHS) 23 points, Korey Mitchell (MCHS) 20 points

Game note: Martin County could not contain Kinsey or Vinson. Late game heroics, with 2.2 seconds in regulation, Kinsey pulls up for a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime. An unfortunate end to a game dominated by Martin County until the last 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. Poor decisions by Martin County forced them to foul down the stretch and Vinson made them pay. The Tigers looked too one-dimensional in overtime and Jefferson took advantage.

Tournament notes

It's too bad at least two more trophies were not available for the All Tournament team. Korey Mitchell had an outstanding tournament and Charles Singletary proved his worth in the Consolation Championship. However, here is the list.

All Tournament Team

  1. Richard Cleare, 2002 - Martin County
  2. Eric Dickinson, 2003 - South Fork
  3. Hurley Dunbar, 2003 - Martin County
  4. Tarence Kinsey, 2002 - Tampa Jefferson
  5. Kevin Vinson, 2002 - Tampa Jefferson
  6. Roderick Wilmont, 2002 - Miramar
  • Tournament MVP - Tarence Kinsey - Tampa Jefferson

"My son's high school coach gave him a copy of the book and he read it in two days. Now he is leading the effort to get himself a scholarship. The book is inspiring and effective for high school athletes."
