"Florida Treasure Coast Top Recruit Prospects"

Martin County Hall of Fame Classic

Day Two

Game 5
SLW Centennial 75, Jupiter 51

Top scorers: Terrell Slater (SLWC) 18 points, Charles Singletary (SLWC) 17 points, Nate Audin (JHS) 11 points

Game notes: Jupiter was without two key starters. Center Kyle Murphy suffered an ankle injury, possibly a fracture, in Thursday's game that could keep him out for quite some time.

Game 6
South Fork 65, Okeechobee 60

Top scorers: Eric Dickinson (SFHS) 24 points, Derrick Derita (OHS) 22 pts.

Game notes: Eric Dickinson struck again today. He is shooting the ball well. The score looks a bit closer than the game was. South Fork led by 8-14 points throughout the entire game. Two last second 3's from Okeechobee made the score look respectable.

Game 7
Tampa Jefferson 62, Miramar 60

Top scorers: Roderick Wilmont (MHS) 37 points, James Jean (TJ) 18 points

Game notes: The game of the day. The key match-up between Tarence Kinsey and Roderick Wilmont was definitely won by Wilmont. Wilmont is showing his game, definitely a "D-1". Kinsey had two fouls early in the game that took him out of rhythm.

Game 8
Martin County 59, Plantation 45

Top scorers: Hurley Dunbar (MCHS) 23 points, Brown (PHS) 14 points, Richard Cleare (MCHS) 12 points

Game note: The McIntyre show continues. Hurley Dunbar, nephew of head coach Andre McIntyre, got enough play time to put away Plantation by himself. However, Richard Cleare and Korey Mitchell continue to make the difference in the game. Cleare's two handed dunk in the 2nd quarter inspired the team to dominate over Plantation.

Tournament notes

Hopefully, we have not seen the best game of the tournament. However, game 7, Tampa Jefferson vs. Miramar, was full of excitement. Miramar had three attempts in the last 10 seconds to win or tie. The game featured the two best players in Roderick Wilmont and Tarence Kinsey. Kinsey just couldn't get started and Wilmont continued to showed why he is the best player at the tournament. It is a shame he doesn't have a better team to help him out.

Martin County continued through their bracket with a blowout win. The lack of balance in the brackets showed in today's semi-final. It is unfortunate that several teams backed out from their out of state travel this year. This is definitely the weakest tournament that Martin County has hosted in a long time. The availability of quality teams is at a premium. It's too bad that this tournament had to suffer. Well, there's always next year.

"My son's high school coach gave him a copy of the book and he read it in two days. Now he is leading the effort to get himself a scholarship. The book is inspiring and effective for high school athletes."
