Game Notes :
South East Florida
The elusive triple-double found its way into Darcenelle Desir's hands on Thursday night as he scored 28 points, 14 rebounds, and had 11 steals in
Archbishop Curley's win over Marathon. Archbishop Curley's Reynald Blanchard added a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds in the 33 point win over Marathon.
Anthony Corral led Dade Christian to a 28 point win over Broward Christian with 24 points and 10 assists.
Westminster Academy beat Gulliver Prep by 14 points. Gulliver's Anthony Leon contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Calusa Prep handed out a 52 point loss to Princeton Christian. Denis Clemente and Omar Brito combined for 54 points in the win.
Central East Florida
The Benjamin School made quick work of Community Christian in their 46 point win. Benjamin's Cody Travaglini scored 19 points and dished out 15 assists.
John I. Leonard slid by Gold Coast by seven points. Olympic Heights cruised by Atlantic by thirteen. Cardinal Newman spanked Inlet Grove with a 51 point win while limiting Inlet Grove
to a mere 16 points for the game. Northwest Christian crushed Summit Christian behind a combination of Rivera's 23 points and Willie Walker's double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds.
Treasure Coast Middle School conference semifinals featured two Martin vs. Indian River games. The #1 seeded Gifford versus
#5 seed Hidden Oaks. Hidden Oaks tried to keep this close but Jim Leffew's 18 points and Gifford's stingy defense were too much. Joe Sclafani led Hidden Oaks with 12 points in their 9 point loss.
Game 1 featured #2 seed Murray against #6 seed Sebastian River. The absence of leading scorer 6'2" guard/forward Ridge Graham proved too much for Murray as Ryan Power's 13 points
weren't enough in their 45-26 loss.
North East Florida
Central Florida
Jones defeated Oak Ridge by 14 points behind Williams' 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Heritage Prep snuck by Altamonte Christian with some help from Randall and his double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounsd.
Leesburg had a 13 point win over Mount Dora and McNish paced Leesburg with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Colonial beat Faith Christian by five points. Faith Christian's Wolf added 25 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Deltona Trinity was beaten Lighthouse Christian Academy and Birencwaig's 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Montverde Academy is holding an invitational tournament at their campus this weekend. The 8 team format tournament started last night with
opening round games featuring Heritage Christian from Texas. Heritage Christian features a couple of young players in
210-pound, 6'-6" junior Rashad Woods, sophomore forward, 6'-9", 240-pound Chris Roquemore, and 6'-4", 200-pound senior Richard Hurd. We should see the two teams in the finals. You can
visit the tournament page by clicking here. Both teams won easily with Heritage Christian beating Central Florida Christian Academy
and Montverde Academy beating Hernando Christian.
South West Florida
A 31-8 1st quarter said it all as Lehigh cruised to a victory over Estero. Riverdale continued their losing way as they lost by two points to Evangelical Christian.
North Port handed Venice a four point loss. Florida Prep has come around lately. They have shown that they can play and are worthy of notice.
They handed Yavney Neptune and Port Charlotte an overtime four point loss.

Game Notes :
South East Florida
Sunset downed South Dade by 14 points with Richard Nellhaus getting 16 points and 13 rebounds and Larry Bennerman adding 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Champagnat defeated R.J. Hendley easily with their 28 point win. Champagnat seems to have handled the loss of Luis Colon pretty well. It seems
that Colon has enrolled at Montverde Academy as Art Alvarez and Ed Auricchio's Galaxy of Stars website and
Ron Briscoe's Southeast Regional Basketball Report. Montverde head coach Kevin Sutton had indicated to me
something "big" might be happening in late December. I assume that this was the "big" surprise he was eluding to was the addition of Luis Colon. However, an email this morning from Coach Sutton confirmed that
the news of Colon's transfer was not what he was speaking of.
Central East Florida
A quiet night for boys high school basketball along the Palm Beach and Tresasure Coast. Vero Beach watched Ft. Pierce Westwood battle back in the 4th quarter to hold on for a
four point win in Vero. St. Lucie West Centennial ended their season with a 75-56 win over Okeechobee. Forest Hill edged Boca Raton with a one point win.
Grandview Prep handed former state powerhouse Miami Christian a 57-33 loss. Rogers Jackson led GRandview with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.
However, you couldn't say the same for the middle school basketball scene in Martin County.
The annual Treasure Lake Middle School tournament featured a couple of great games and a couple of ugly games. The ugliest game of the day was the
54-14 whipping of Okeechobee's Osceola squad by Sebastian River. Team problems came to a head last week and 3 of Osceola's starting five, including
leading scorer John McNeil, were dismissed from the team. Osceola Middle was the 3rd seed in the tournament. Murray Middle suffered a minor setback
as their leading scorer, Ridge Graham, will not be available until next Tuesday. However, Ryan Power stepped up in Graham's absence with
a 16 point performance (including 4 of 5 from 3-point range) as well as Cameron McKinney adding 10 points in Murray's 44-22 win over 7th seed Okeechobee Yearling Middle.
Yearling suffered a similar fate last week as several of their better players gave their notice just before the end of the season. Murray's 12-5
record is second best in the area. The best record goes to Vero Beach's Gifford Middle School at 16-1. Gifford had all they could handle for three quarters
in their 36-26 win over Stuart Middle. Stuart Middle has suffered through their worst year in a long time. However, a half time 15-10 lead had to feel good.
The same couldn't be said about the 3rd quarter as Stuart Middle was held scoreless and Gifford finally got started. Guard Jim Leffew led
Gifford with 12 points. Stuart's leading scorer Keith Patterson had an off shooting game after yesterday's win 39-31 win over Indiantown. Indiantown 6th grader, and leading scorer,
Quamain Foreman had 26 points in the loss. The game of the day was Vero Beach's Oslo Middle against host school Hidden Oaks Middle. Hidden Oaks
came out ready to play and dominated for most of the game. The teams split in the regular season. So, you knew something was going to happen. It came in the last minutes
of the 4th quarter. Oslo used their athleticism and a severe case of fouling from Hidden Oaks to their advantage to take the lead with a little under
two minutes left. However, the lead was short lived as Hidden Oaks guard Joe Sclafani hit several key free throws to put the game away. Sclafani
didn't get much help offensively with a final score of 46-43 and his scoring 31 points.
Standout 8th graders John McNeil (5'9"), Ridge Graham (6'2"), Ryan Power (5'6"), Cameron McKinney (6'3"), and Joe Sclafani (5'7") all play summer
basketball on the same travel squad. The team roster also includes 6'0" Emmanuel Russell, 5'10" Sean Belanger and Stuart Middle's leading scorer 7th grader Keith Patterson (5'6").
Russell was Stuart Middle's second leading scorer until grades ended his season. Belanger starts for Hidden Oaks and contributes his brand of energy both on offense and defense.
This team should be fun to watch this summer. The team is looking for one or two post players to fill out the squad. You can email PowerBasketball about tryouts.

Darius Washington and Edgewater continued their dominance as they scored 103 points and whipped Olympia by 35 points.
Dr. Phillips destroyed Winter Park in a 35 point blowout as Jason Rich led Dr. Phillips with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Lake Howell's Thacker had 22 points and 10 rebounds in their nine point overtime win over Seminole. Pat Calathes scored 28 points in the win.
It took 4 overtimes but Winter Springs came out on top over Lyman. Lyman's Robinson had a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Winter Springs' Kuhl and Benton combined for 58 points.
University's De La Cruz 13 points and 10 rebounds in their eight point loss to Evans.

Game Notes :

Central East Florida
Summit Christian's Bryan Wilson surpassed 3,000 career points. The Palm Beach record is now 3,014 and Wilson is not done as they have one more regular
season game and districts waiting.
Anthony Marshall used some of his other skills as he postyed a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds in Lake Worth's win over Atlantic.
Jupiter erased a 9 point deficit to begin the 4th quarter and held South Fork to 6 4th quarter points. The combination of Chad Boyson and Quincy McGee
proved too much for South Fork. South Fork's leading scorer Ferrel Graham was game-high with 26 points. Graham was the only South Fork player to score in double figures.
This game was the 2nd of coach Jerry Gatewood's 2 game suspension. Former coach Danny England looked good strolling the lines last night.
Palm Beach Gardens got by Spanish with a siz point win with Chris Volstad scoring a double-double of 10 points and 12 blocked shots.
Martin County will stay above 0.500 for the regular season as they improved to 12-10 with a ten point win over St. Lucie West Centennial.
Junior Edd Johnson scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Martin County.
Ft. Pierce Westwood juniors Terry Delion (team-high 18 points) and Robert Jones (15 points, 10 rebounds) led the team to a three point win over hapless Sebastian River.
American Heritage's Moses Hinton and Brandon McThay provided 52 of 64 points in their loss to Class 1A #3 ranked Northwest Christian.
The rub match between Palm Beach Lakes and W.T. Dwyer was filled with excitement. Dwyer coach Fred Ross was ejected before the end of the first half and
leading scorer Leemire Goldwire fouled out with over 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter as Palm Beach Lakes can now really claim to be Palm Beach County's
number 1 team. Goldwire was limited in minutes due to foul trouble while Corey Young stepped up and was game high with 26 points. However, it was the
Palm Beach Lakes trio of Corey Claitt (21 points), Daniel Bryant (20 points), and Jarrett Brown (18 points) that provided the necessary punch to pull out the win.

Game Notes :
South East Florida
MacArthur South's Marcus James had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in their 21 point win over MAST Academy.
Another Calusa Prep victim, Faith Christian loses by 54 points. Double-doubles were provided by Denis Clemente with 42 points and 10 steals,
Omar Brito scored 11 points and had 13 rebounds, and Ismail Pabon had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Miami Christian is not quite what they used to be. However, they have had a good season to date. They lost only their 4th game of the season
to Class 1A #7 ranked Hialeah Champagnat Catholic. Delwin Liranzo led Champagnat in scoring as Gustavo Rausch had 11 points and 10 rebounds
and Angel Polaco had 10 points and 16 rebounds.
Miami Country Day had no problems with Doral Academy as Blake Premer scored 13 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as well as
David Harari scoring a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
GMAC Quarterfinals
I guess you could all 4 games upsets as the team with the worse record prevailed. Miami Senior defeated Sunset with freshman
Edwin Rios lighting it up with 27 points and sophomore Dwayne Collins pulling down 17 rebounds and 17 points. Northwestern got
by Killian by a score of 72-63. Northwestern's Tremaine Noble helped the winning effort with his 12 point, 10 rebound game.
Remy Hart was game-high with 16 points, going 11 of 12 from the free throw line. State ranked teams North Miami Beach and American both fell
in their games. Southridge took care of American by two points with a last second putback from Terrence McBride. Southridge outscored American
11-1 in the game's final minutes. Dynin Daniels' four 3 pointers came at some key moments as his 14 points was team high.
North Miami Beach suffered a similar fate as Quintel Parker's 26 points and 10 rebounds led Jackson to a nine point win.
Next up, Southridge will meet Northwestern at 6 on Tueday night at Goleman with Miami Senior and Jackson (17-7) locking up in the other semifinal.
Miami Senior has lost two games to Jackson already this season. So, it may be their turn this time.
Central East Florida
Lincoln Park Academy defeated St. Lucie West Centennial behind Jamison Clark's career best 42 point evening. The 6'5" guard/forward was
pretty much unstoppable. The same could be said with John Carroll's win over Community Christian. The academically ineligible Richard Ross
makes Community Christian really easy to beat. John Carroll coach Steve Ripley played his starters for maybe 14 minutes in this game. Leading scorer
Matt Marcorelle provided enough timely shooting (3 of 4 behind the arc) and 5 of 7 for the game to finish with 18 points. John Carroll moved the ball
well amongst all the players all evening. Community Christian had a hard enough time handling the ball let alone score. They could manage only 2 points in the 3rd quarter.
Lake Worth Christian's Nick Marino scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in their win over Westminster Academy.
Gold Coast got another win as T.T. Hall's 37 points led the Defenders to an easy 39 point win.
The local FACA district has selected the area's top players for this season. They include:
Anthony Marshall (Lake Worth [6A]), Leemire Goldwire (W.T. Dwyer [5A]), Jamison Clark (Lincoln Park Academy [4A]), J.J. Hirst (Okeechobee [4A]),
Antonio Wilson (Pahokee [3A]), Matt Marcorelle (John Carroll [2A]), and P.J. Abbott (Trinity Christian [1A]).
North East Florida
Central Florida
Circle Christian's Jeremy Givens scored 25 points and had 12 rebounds in their 26 point win over Bishop Moore.
Brett Hodges led Winter Springs in scoring and Benton added a double-double of 20 points and 11 steals as they handed Trinity Prep only their 4th loss of the season.
Gateway's 19 point win over Faith Christian could be attributed to Grant's 31 point, 13 rebound effort.
Cypress Creek got by Boone by four points as Henry scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds i the win.
South West Florida
Dunbar had 4 players in double figures with Richard Powell leading the way with 20 points in their win over Riverdale.
Mariner used a 17-10 4th quarter advantage to slide by Charlotte by three points. Richie Cruz was Mariner's leading scorer with 18 points.
Charlotte only had two players in double figures in Andre Brown and guard Bryan Dees.
