Game Notes :
SouthEast
Miami Christian's 6'7" Christian Soto had his 3rd double-double of the week with 26 points and 19 rebounds in a win over Florida Christian.
The Knight Time Tournament Championship featured Belen over Gulliver Prep. Anthony Fernandez led Belen to the win hitting 13 of 14 from the free throw line.
The 3rd place game had Sunset over Miami Beach. Sunset's Adrian Justice was one rebound shy of a double-double with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
The upset of the evening, Columbus over Miami Senior High. A lot has been written about this young Miami team. Edwin Rios (21 pts.) and Dwayne Collins (16 pts.) have
a lot to live up to. However, their opening game hopefully is not a sign of things to come. Eric Diaz had a good game with a double-double of 27 points
and 12 rebounds. Columbus got more help from Antonio Lowery as he contributed an 11 point and 10 rebound game. Rios has won a lot of games in
clutch situations playing AAU, YBOA, or USSSA ball. It's time to see it happen in high school.
Champagnat's Emmanuel Camacho recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds to keep Champagnat undefeated with a win over Archbishop Carroll in double overtime.
Jesse Rivera led Varela to win over Coral Reef in overtinme with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
LaSalle's Paulo Reichardt recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Doral Academy.
Miami Country Day stayed undefeated with a win over MacArthur North getting a quality game from Blake Premer's 15 points and 21 rebound game.
CentralEast
A bit early but how about a couple of rivalry games to end the first week. Palm Beach County, W.T. Dwyer started out their season the wrong way with Palm Beach Lakes. Lakes sophomore Corey Claitt provided two free throws in overtime to "upset"
the mighty Dwyer. Termed a down year for Lakes, this is a quality win for the Rams and coach Lorenzo Hands. Leemire Goldwire tried to provide the offense necessary
but came up short in the loss.
Martin County cross town rivals met for the first of two meetings this season. South Fork sophomore Brennen Grubbs provided a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, Ferrel Graham provided the fun and Aaron Simmons the
sparks for a cross-county rival game that was to say the least "UGLY". This is twice in two games Simmons has been in the middle of some heated words, shoving, and
chest-pounding. Although, turnovers were favored in the first half as both teams switched back and forth for the lead.
The ending score will fool you, it wasn't much of a game after the 3rd quarter. South Fork was up by 19 points with less than 3 minutes left in the game.
Finally, St. Lucie County has it's share of rivalries, so how about Lincoln Park and Port St. Lucie. Well, Port St. Lucie seniors Ronald Daniels and Darryl Taylor carried the Jaguars to an upset win over Jamison Clark and Lincoln Park Academy.
Other action saw Grandview Prep's Rogers Jackson record a double-double with 19 poitns and 10 rebounds in a win over Westlake. Cardinal Newman got by Suncoast thanks to Michael Lee's 29 point game.
Jupiter junior Courtney Harris had a 10 point, 10 rebound double-double in a win over Palm Beach Gardens.
Boynton Beach slammed Palm Beach Central behind Dionte Perry and junior guard Johnny Stephene (watch for this kid throughout the season).
John Carroll knocked Inlet Grove off by nearly 50 points led by Matt Marcorelle.

Game Notes :
SouthEast
Christian Soto recorded a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds for Miami Christian as Hebrew Academy gave them a fight. Miami Christian won by a single point in a
very slow game. Flanagan defeated St. Thomas Aquinas behind matching 24 point games from Thomas and Gramega. Stranahan put a running clock
on Cooper City with a nearly 40 point blowout. Southwest outscored Gables 24 to 8 in the second half. David Tablada and Alex Ramos hit crucial 3-pointers in the second
half to seal the victory. Andy Riveron led Braddock with 13 points and Alcides Gomez chipped in with 10 assists for the win
over Westminster. Connor Clampsey had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds for Miami Country Day.
CentralEast
The running clock was utilized once again this season as Vero Beach handled St. Lucie West Centennial easilly as 6'-6" junior Ray Cummings led the way with an impressive double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds.
St. Edwards transfer Josh Thompson had 12 points in the Indian's season opener.
NorthEast
Brian Hoff and David Huertas led Arlington Country Day to a 20 point victory over Nease. Nationally ranked Jason Bennett provided an anemic
2 point offensive game although his size made Nease think about how to enter the post. You would think a nationally ranked kid standing at 7'2" could get at least
10 points in any game he plays. Another point for who really is the top sophomore in the state. Street and Smith and School Sports like Bennett enough to
rank him in the top ten nationally. However, there is plenty more talent in florida for the Class of 2006 than Bennett. The one thing Bennett has going
for him is his size. You know the old saying, "You can't teach tall." Hopefully his game will show improvement over the season.
Central
Keith Brumbaugh and Blake Young head-to-head. Brumbaugh's return to the hard court proved interesting. It took overtime but Deland came out on top.
Daryl Merthie led Lake Mary to a win over Lake Highland.
SouthWest
Lely needed overtime to defeat Lehigh, 60-58. Lehigh's Marcel Pestano had an impressive offensive game with 27 points.
NorthWest
Ron Larris' 28 point performance powered Gainesville past Jordan Carrier (10 points, 4 assists, 4 steals) and Vanguard, 66-50. Halston Schaffer had
a double-double with 1t points and 11 rebounds as Trinity Catholic walked away from Forest Lake, 63-33.

Game Notes :
SouthEast
Boyd Anderson's Roderick Green led a balanced offensive attack as they shut down South Broward in a nearly 40 point blowout.
St. Thomas Aquinas' Tyler Rodriguez had as excellent game as they handled Coconut Creek. Taurean Green led Cardinal Gibbons as they
blew out Archibishop Carroll.
CentralEast
Sophomore Xavier Perkins led St. Andrews to hold to a tight win over Boca Raton. South Fork sophomore Brennen Grubbs had his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 15 rebounds
in a win over Sebastian River. Ferrel Graham continues to provide South Fork with an extra offensive punch as he is becoming their leading scorer. The new kid on the block at Ft. Pierce Central, Brandon Degregorio, scored 26 point of his 29 points in the second half as
they easilly defeated John Carroll. John Carroll junior Matt Marcorelle led John Carroll in scoring. Ft. Pierce Central point guard Jack Stewart had a double-double with
13 points and 13 assists. Lake Worth coasted by Palm Beach Gardens by over 30 points from the offense of Anthony Marshall, Tracy Razz, and sophomore A.J. Green (36 pts.). They combined for 74 of the 96 points.
Port St. Lucie's Darryl Taylor got his first technical foul of the season in an exchange with Martin County guard Aaron Simmons. The incident
provided a brief opportunity for Martin County. But, Port St. Lucie proved too athletic. They're baack! Now, Lincoln Park's trio of Jamison Clark,
Andrae Franklin, and William Potts are finally seniors. They should make some noise in their district this season. I'll pick them as my favorite. They should surprise people with Potts back and healthy.
NorthEast
Bartam Trail implemented the new running clock and blew out Fletcher by 45 points.
Central
Antonio Dade led Jones with a 15 point, 15 rebound double-double in their win over Titusville. Jermaine Taylor helped Tavares defeat Crooms Academy with

CentralWest
Auburndale sophomore Kendrick Johnson led the Bloodhounds while Alex Blair had a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds to defeat George Jenkins.
NorthWest
Forest got a 26-point performance from Allen Nieta a win over St. John Lutheran. Ron Larris led Gainesville to an easy win over
Belleview. Woodham's Mike Nettles and Gary Tucker, by their own combined offensive efforts, nearly doubled Ruby J Gainer's final score of 18.
