Game 10 - Hilton Head, SC 58 vs. Okeechobee 46
Game 11 - Miramar 30 vs. South Fork 65
Game 12 - West Orange 57 vs. Martin County 58

Notes:
The Martin County Hall of Fame Classic continues to struggle to find quality teams. The opening day games did prove to be exciting. Game one between Okeechobee (2-5) and Miramar (3-6) went into overtime. Okeechobee had this one and gave it away. Game two found West Orange (4-3) down the entire game only to turn back South Fork (2-4) in overtime as well. A late game miscue by the entire South Fork team and bench was the cause for the loss. Game three provided another come from behind this time for Hilton Head, SC (2-2) over Centennial (5-4). Martin County (4-3) gave themselves a first round bye thanks to Hialeah Champagnat opting for the Kingdom of the Sun tournament in Ocala. It's a shame this tournament can't find a higher caliber field of teams. Martin County has a strong team this year and could have used the tournament to their advantage.

The final day of games brought nothing surprising. The third place game between South Fork and Miramar was a real yawner. South Fork shut down Miramar for three quarters allowing only 17 points. Miramar is in for a long season. South Fork got some much needed offense from Justin Powell (18 points) while Eric Dickinson (16 points) and James Dixon continue to provide consistent games for the Bulldogs. South Fork played great man-to-man defense throughout the tournament. They had no business losing to West Orange. However, South Fork has now surpassed last year's win total if you count the addition of their two early season "classic" victories in LaBelle. They are 4-5 for the regular season and Okeechobee will most likely be their next victim. South Fork plays host to Okeechobee on January 3rd.

Martin County struggled to find some offense until Hurley Dunbar finally showed up in the second half of the championship game. Adrian Cowan was the man for West Orange going 7 of 8 from the field in the 1st half. However, West Orange could not get him the ball in the second half allowing Martin County to make their run. Trumaine Pearson provided a fitting end to the game with his last second blocked shot of Chris Batten. Jarvis White attempted a put-back jump shot but it fell short. Dunbar finished with a game high 23 points, 16 points coming in the second half.

The All-Tournament team selections were Ferrel Graham (Martin County), Trumaine Pearson (Martin County), Adrian Cowan (West Orange), Chris Batten (West Orange), James Dixon (South Fork), Emmanul Adrife (Miramar). Hurley Dunbar was definitely "THE" selection for Tournament MVP.

Shark Holiday Classic, Sebastian

Results, Friday, December 27

Game 1 -  St. Edwards 68, Hilliard 59
Game 2 -  Sebastian River 61, Tallahassee-Chiles 45
Results, Saturday, December 28

Game 3 -  Hilliard 50 vs. Tallahassee-Chiles 47
Game 4 -  St. Edwards 56 vs. Sebastian River 66

Notes:
The Shark Holiday Classic is a first year tournament featuring both boys and girls basketball. They are starting small and hoping to build from there. It seems that everyone wants to have a tournament these days. They should have gotten together with Martin County and provided for some much needed additional teams. Although, you have to admire Sebastian's effort to get a couple of non-local teams.

Holiday Hoopla, Vero Beach

Results, Thursday, December 26

Game 1 -  Southwest Miami 66, Westminster Academy 38
Game 2 -  Longwood-Lyman 61, Palm Bay-Bayside 56 (OT)
Game 3 -  Jupiter 41, Eau Gallie 37

Results, Friday, December 27

Game 5 -  Westminster Academy 54, Eau Gallie 45
Game 6 -  Titusville 59, Palm Bay-Bayside 51
Game 7 -  Jupiter 38, Southwest Miami 30
Game 8 -  Vero Beach 55, Longwood-Lyman 37
Results, Saturday, December 28

Game 9 -  Eau Gallie 66 vs. Bayside 69
Game 10 - Westminster Academy 50 vs. Titusville 54
Game 11 - Southwest Miami 30 vs. Longwood-Lyman 38
Game 12 - Jupiter 27 vs. Vero Beach 53

Notes:
The Vero Beach tournament has been around for what seems forever. This will be the Holiday Hoopla's 20th year. They seem to always have consistent quality teams. Although, the choice of Westminster Academy in a down year will look good for someone's record as proof of their 1st round nearly thirty point loss to Southwest Miami. Jupiter can use this tournament to bounce back from a somewhat miserable early December showing. Vero Beach always has a good team as they are consistently ranked in the top 20 best in Class 6A in the state.

Game 12 - Lincoln Park 60 vs. Ft. Pierce Westwood 75- North Championship

Notes:
We are providing information on the boys' section of this 32 team tournament, there are also 16 girls' teams. This tournament may have gotten out of hand for its sheer size for the Treasure Coast area. Someone needs to get together and stop the nonsense. All these tournaments and if you look close nearly half of the teams are local. Lincoln Park, John Carroll, Ft. Pierce Central, Ft. Pierce Westwood, and Port St. Lucie all play each other throughout the season why play against each other in a holiday tournament. The simple answer would be to avoid traveling. The boy's side of the tournament only has two out of state teams. It's a shame that someone's ego is getting in the way of putting together a true high caliber tournament. We can catch some of these teams playing each other on any given weekday during the months of December or January. Although, you have to admire the effort of getting the Pendleton School to come. The Saturday late game at Port St. Lucie will feature former assistant coach Ron Shadegg and his new Timber Creek team against head coach John Picchiarini and host Port St. Lucie. We will call Port St. Lucie the host team as they are partly responsible for starting this tournament 4 years ago. However, Tom Colucci and the Treasure Coast Sports Commission actually host the tournament.

The Monday championship games were interesting to watch as Ft. Pierce Westwood ended Lincoln Park's nine game winning streak with a 75-60 win in the North Division. An unfortunate accident to William Potts from the gym caused a twenty-five game delay in the third quarter. Emergency medical technicians were called upon to remove him from the gym on a stretcher. The Stuart News reported Coach Tony Seabury saying, "His mother is a doctor, and she thinks he dislocated the patella he hurt before last year, so she doesn't think it's as serious as it looked." The delay did not help Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park was making a rally late in the fourth quarter when Jamison Clark fouled out with less than three minutes remaining. Sophomores Robert Jones and Terry Delion provided for 29 points as Westwood erased a 35-29 halftime deficit. Westwood outscored Lincoln Park 22-7 in the third quarter and never looked back. The second game featured the Pendleton Pioneers defeating Port St. Lucie in the South Division championship game. Jermaine Bell, Danny Morrissey, and Taurean Green were just too much for the Jaguars to handle. Although Pendleton never really pulled away, which seems to be their nature, it was an exciting game. Senior Carl Damus had a game-high 29 points. Pendleton's big three had 60 of the team's 75 points. Morrissey led the way with 26 points, Bell had 22 points, and Green 12 points. Port St. Lucie crawled back within 5 points on several occasions but was not potent enough offensively to catch up to Pendleton.
