Game 2: Port St. Lucie 61, Belle Chase, LA 30
Game 3: Boynton Beach 67, Pendleton School 35
Game 4: Lincoln Park Academy 70, Brimmer and May, MA 27

Game 6: Ft. Pierce Central 61, Harrison, GA 46
Game 7: Ft. Pierce Westwood 78, St. James, SC 48
Game 8: Riverdale, TN 66, John Carroll 37

Day One Notes:
John Carroll continues to struggle from the injury of Matt Marcorelle as they dropped their game to Riverdale, TN. Port St. Lucie got back on track with a 30 point blowout of Belle Chase, LA. In other blowouts, the Pendleton School minus several players were handed a 32 point loss by Boynton Beach. Dionte Perry recorded a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Top ranked 8th grader Michael Beasley continues to put up impressive stats, he had 19 of his team's 35 points. Where is some help for this kid? Lincoln Park coasted by Brimmer and May, MA with a 43 point blowout. Ft. Pierce Central got by Harrison, GA by 15 points and Ft. Pierce Westwood handed St. James, SC a thirty point loss. Hopefully, Day Two will provide some better competition.

Day Two – Monday Dec. 29, 2003

Game 9: Harrison, GA 64, Service, AK 55
Game 10: John Carroll 58, St. James, SC 51
Game 11: Riverdale, TN 56, Ft. Pierce Westwood 51
Game 12: St. Stephens-St. Agnes, VA 75, Ft. Pierce Central 63
Game 13: Palm Harbor, Belle Chase, LA
Game 14: Pendleton School, Brimmer and May, MA
Game 15: Port St. Lucie 58, Lake Worth 50
Game 16: Lincoln Park Academy 56, Boynton Beach 55

Day Two Notes:
Consolation bracket games provided some competition as Harrison, GA defeated Service, AK. Palm Harbor defeated Belle Chase, LA. The Pendleton School got back on track with a win over Brimmer and May, MA. John Carroll will play Harrison, GA with their win over St. James, SC. John Carroll leading scorer Matt Marcorelle suffered an injury several weeks ago that is keeping him out. Junior Eber Wrightis slowly becoming the go-to guy in his absence as he led John Carroll in scoring with 15 points.

Winners bracket games featured some great games. Ft. Pierce Westwood tried to utilize Robert Jones' 27 points to come from behind against Riverdale, TN. However, it was too much Riverdale in the end. Riverdale, TN had three players in double figures for a more balanced offense. St. Stephens-St. Agnes, VA defeated Ft. Pierce Central in the same style as Riverdale beat Westwood with 3 players in double figures. Ft. Pierce Central guard Brandon Degregorio got back into it with a 23 point performance. The North Division will feature an out-of-state final between Riverdale, TN and St. Stephens-St. Agnes, VA. The third place game features a crosstown rivalry between Ft. Pierce Central and Ft. Pierce Westwood.

The South Division featured current #7 Class 5A Port St. Lucie facing off against 6A Lake Worth. Port St. Lucie used a 17-8 3rd quarter to beat Lake Worth and move their record to 8-2. The trio of Ronald Daniels (14 points), Shane Reynolds (14 points), and Darryl Taylor (18 points) make this guard strong team tough to stay with. Port St. Lucie continues to show their "hard play" is the key to their abiliity to finish games. They will play Lincoln Park Academy in the championship game. Unranked Class 4A Lincoln Park Academy downed current #7 Class 6A Boynton Beach, 56-55. I will continue to stick with my sentinmental favorites and claim this a good win but not necessarilly an upset. Lincoln Park has yet to actually finish a game strong, until this one! Jamison Clark should start getting some looks from some low-mid major D1 programs as the season progresses as the 6'5" "guard" continues to put up the numbers that is expected of him. He has the size and game that some Division I programs are looking for. He is not doing this all by himself. He just stands out. The trio of Clark, Andrae Franklin, and William Potts are what makes this team go. Franklin and Potts are the offensive threats that allow Clark to get his game. A quality team that should be ranked in 4A.

Day Three – Tuesday Dec. 30, 2003

Game 17: Service, AK 71, St. James, SC 53
Game 18: Belle Chase, LA 37, Brimmer and May, MA 31
Game 19: Harrison, GA 51, John Carroll 39
Game 20: Palm Harbor 68, Pendleton School 55
Game 21: Ft. Pierce Central 61, Ft. Pierce Westwood 49
Game 22: Lake Worth 59, Boynton Beach 56
Game 23: Lincoln Park Academy 56, Port St. Lucie 52
Game 24: Riverdale, TN 65, St. Stephens-St. Agnes, VA 60

Day Three Notes:

Consolation games found Service, AK getting a win over St. James, SC. Belle Chase, LA kept Brimmer and May, MA winless. Palm Harbor defeated a seriously outmanned Pendleton School. Nationally ranked 8th grader Michael Beasley could have been used for this one. Harrison, GA defeated John Carroll. Eber Wright (game-high 16 points) continous to provide offense as John Carroll awaits the return of Matt Marcorelle to the lineup.

Semi-final action featured a pair of St. Lucie rivals and Palm Beach rivals. First up, Ft. Pierce Central vs. Ft. Pierce Westwood. Westwood controlled the first quarter, 14-5 but Central closed out the half down only one. Ft. Pierce Central senior Brandon Degregorio was in early foul trouble and eventually fouled out late in the 4th quarter. However, he provided 25 points of offense to lead the Cobras to the win. Juniors Terry Delion (24 points) and Robert Jones (15 points) provided the bulk of Westwood's offense. However, it was a terrible 3rd quarter from Westwood that cost them the game. A lot of standing around on offense by Westwood as Central switched to a 2-3 zone defense all but shut down Westwood as they could muster only 9 points to Central's 17 points.

The Palm Beach semi-final between Lake Worth and Boynton Beach looked to be a blowout. A 40-16 halftime score said it all as Lake Worth watched their 24 point lead dwindle to hang on for a three point win. Cold shooting and attitude cost Lake Worth the entire second half. They were able to score a pitiful 6 points in the 4th quarter. Boynton Beach made a great run in the second half. However Lake Worth senior Anthony Marshall (34 points) provided the bulk of the offensive load and sophomore AJ Green added 17 points of the team total of 59. The two basically put on a shooting clinic in the first half. Marshall had 24 and Green had 13 points respectfully. The second half was entirely different game as Dionte Perry (22 points) and Boynton's guards' three point shooting woke up. A last second turnover forced Boynton to foul and lose. A hard fought battle from Boynton Beach that could have easily rolled over and given up.

Championship games featured round two between Lincoln Park and Port St. Lucie and an out-of-state final between Riverdale, TN and St. Stephens-St. Agnes, VA. Riverdale, TN senior Labrian Lyons (26 points) hit some key free throws as Riverdale came out on top. Michael Schwimmer (21 points) led St. Stephens-St. Agnes, VA in scoring. Riverdale claimed the championship in the North Division of the tournament.

The South Division championship featured a couple of local teams in Lincoln Park Academy and Port St. Lucie. Port St. Lucie defeated Lincoln Park earlier in the season. So, you know Lincoln Park was looking to get even. A first half marred by 4 technical fouls (3 from Lincoln Park's side and one to Port St. Lucie's Stryker Burks) was definitely a sign that egos were prevailing in the matchup. Although, a lot could be said for the fact that Lincoln Park was up by as many as 23 points in the first half. A 27-10 first quarter score courtesy of Andrae Franklin and Jamison Clark scoring 14 points as well as just flat outplaying Port St. Lucie helped power Lincoln Park. The Lincoln Park squad was hitting on all cylinders.

Then, along comes the 3rd quarter and it looked like a combination of the earlier semifinal matchups. The entire team became complacent on offense and Clark's unwillingness to play defense or rebound the basketball did not help Lincoln Park's situation. This was called holding on for dear life. The game couldn't get over fast enough for Lincoln Park and coach Tony Seabury. Seabury challenged his squad to step up and close this one out. However, it was Clark that stepped offensively on the 4th quarter as he scored all but two of the team's points. Coach Seabury needs to work on the team's rebounding and overall effort. They seemed to be more worried about scoring than defending a guard strong Port St. Lucie squad with the likes of Darryl Taylor (the best looking player on PSL for the moment), Shane Reynolds, and Ronald Daniels. Reynolds, PSL's leading scorer, got in foul trouble early in the first quarter and did not see much until the second half. Port St. Lucie picked the wrong candidate to foul in Clark as he closed out the scoring of the game hitting his final two free throws to put the game out of reach.
