Jim Haley's Annual Rookie Sensations, October 25, 2003
First I would like to thank Coach Haley for another great camp. Coach Haley puts a lot of personal time and effort into this Camp and everyone owes him a great deal of thanks. Second I would like to thank the Coach's who filled out the player evaluation sheets (The Coach's sheet were the only thing used to rate the players the scores were calculated up to give the final score). Now I will try to some up the day's events starting with the 8th graders. Their was a total of eight 8th graders at the camp.

Players were evaluated on a scale of 1(poor) thru 5(excellent) in 6 categories.
(Shooting- Passing - Ball handling - Rebounding - Scoring - Assist's)

Top 8th Graders
  1. (19pts) Chris Ammons 6' 4" Mandarin MS
Chris played a very well rounded game with a nice shot he also moved well without the ball and was a strong Rebounder.
  2. (18pts) Michael Coleman 5' 10" Howard MS
Michael is strong Ball handler who sees the court real well and does a nice job of passing the ball to the open man.
  3. (16pts) Evan Ravenal 6'3" Temple Terrace
Evan sees the court very well and is an effective passer & rebounder with a good outside shot.
  4. (16pts) John Burke 6'6" Northside Christian
John took 2nd place in the slam dunk competition.

Top 9th Graders

Cecil has a Great all-around game. Watch this kid.
  2. (21pts) Todd Brown 5'5" Williston HS
Todd is a great ball handler and passer with a nice shot and knows how to score.
  3. (20Pts) Jerry Howard 6'4" Orlando Jones
Strong rebounder and scorer with a good all-around game.
  4. (19Pts) Jonathan Murner 6'2" Bay HS
Great shot and good ball handler and rebounder.

Top 10th Graders
  1. (27Pts) Jeremiah Rivers 6'3" Winter Park
This kid was out standing did not see any weaknesses in his game. He hit a total of 9 three pointers in his 2nd game, six in the second half.
  2. (24Pts) Calvin Liptrot 6'3" Jones HS
This young man scored 4's across the board, very strong all-around game.
  3. (24Pts) Deandre Williams 6'2" Oviedo HS
Also had 4's across the board, very strong game
  4. (23Pts) Ryan Christian 6'6" S.T.A HS
Great rebounder with a nice shot may have been the top big man at the camp.
  5. (23Pts) Rodney Hayes 6'0" Bay HS
Very good ball handler with a nice shot.

In closing I would like to point out that there were some other kids at this camp who played very well and could have easily made this list. What you need to remember that this is a one day exposure camp that gives you a chance to see some top 8th 9th & 10th Graders in Florida. So, use this as a learning tool. Then, you can become the best player you can be. Because really, when it all said and done, that's the only person you are competing against is yourself.

"My son's high school coach gave him a copy of the book and he read it in two days. Now he is leading the effort to get himself a scholarship. The book is inspiring and effective for high school athletes."
