| Vero Beach Pre-season Classic |
| Posted, 11/22/2004 10:11:15 PM | |
Vero Beach, FL - First year program Jensen Beach stepped on the floor for the first time and boy it did it hurt. Cocoa High School came ready
to play. They jumped out quick on Jensen and finished the first half with a 34-11 first half score. Jensen was able to score 13 points in
the 3rd quarter. However, Cocoa ripped off 24 points. The fourth quarter got worse as Jensen could only manage 4 more points and end up losing
by a score of 67-28. Cocoa had a nice looking post player and several guards that could find the basket.
The second game of the evening featured host Vero Beach and Eau Gallie High. Eau Gallie senior guard Ryan Ballard looked like the best
player on the floor at times. It seemed he should have had more than just 12 points. However, his ability to penetrate and find the open player allowed Eau Gallie
to stay within 15 points until the middle of the 3rd quarter. Vero guard Mark Lohuis stepped up with 18 points and 2005 forward
Demarcus Mills added 9 points, at least 7 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots as Ray Cummings looked under the weather for the contest. Vero stretched
their lead to as many as 27 points. But, Eau Gallie battled the score to within 17 points. However, Vero was too much for Eau Gallie as they went
on to a 59-36 victory.
